The purpose of the game is for the students to approach the characters, interpret the situation and initiate conversation that is relevant to the situation. When they put on the HoloLens, they see a virtual layer with characters that look like humans. In the game, the teacher sets up a learning quest where students enter a virtual situation that is customized to meet their special need. Jullia Suhyoung Lim, an educator and designer from New York, developed a HoloLens simulation game to help autistic middle schoolers build social interaction skills. There are all kinds of ways this technology opens doors for students. Teachers can take advantage of many of the VR apps using the individual laptops, iPads or electronic whiteboards already in the classroom.
